Beer number nine from the superb Beer Camp Across America collaboration project features Sierra Nevada Brewing Company mixing it up with Victory Brewing Company straight out of Downing, PA.
Christened Alt Route, this altbier packs a wallop at 6.6% ABV. My exposure to the style is limited (I could drink Alaskan all day) but I can say without question the two breweries did it justice.
A good after work beer and certainly a potential fall seasonal release, the slightly sweet maltiness of this beer demands another round. I would be curious to know which hops were used to support the delicious malt core I tasted from start to finish.
I would pit Alt Route against any of its German predecessors and be confident of a respectable representation.
A probst to Victory and Sierra Nevada!
