Yvan the Great. Sierra Nevada and Russian River collabo. In honor of a mutual friend/renowned Belgian brewer Yvan De Baets.
The beer is yeasty and Belgian in flavor as advertised. However, the use of American HOPS balances this out for me.
I am not a fan of the farmhouse style saison beers normally. Too sweet for this guy. I have not yet tried any legit Belgian Sours, though. They are on my list, rest assured.
This beer was very enjoyable for me. It was refreshing and flavorful. I almost wanted to gargle with it just to prolong kicking it around my taste buds.
A keg of this would be welcome in my house on a warm summer evening after a long day of work. I cannot say that for the majority of Belgian beers I have sampled. Please note my own personal tastes are to blame. I am not out to slander an entire style of beers.
